yarn along ...or not...

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs. I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? ~ Ginny

you remember my mitten? - it's doing...ok... still the same actually :) but I'll finish it in one day - I just need to find that ONE day for it...
and you remember my blanket? - crocheting squares is fun, but there's no rush for that as it's my project with deadline set for winter 2011 so...
and I know it seems there are lots of projects right now and I didn't finish anything for a long time...but...

see that lovely white-blue-whatever yarn? that will be my.... something...one day... maybe a sweater, or Milo vest? (am I too old for that? ) ..or maybe something else.... a girl can dream...
I don't have time to knit/crochet now - big exam in two weeks - lots of studying so...

I just wanted to share a picture of my new yarn, my needles from Grandma, and my basket which will hold my yarn from now...

I bought it in africa, from one old woman sitting on the side of the road selling tiny sweet bananas...
she made the basket herself, and used it to carry all her things, but she had another one...and so she said she'd sell this one if I want :)

and so here it is now, in winter holding all my knitting supplies, in summer going to school with me...and who knows, maybe one day it might travel back to Africa with me, to see my kids and carry some more sweet bananas or avocados.... who knows? ...a girl can always dream....

  2. Beautiful photo! I love the contrast in the colors :). Handmade baskets are so special, my yarn is sitting in a nice big bolga basket that is already too small. You may have to back to Africa to get some extra baskets, yes?

  8. I was wondering what happened to the mitten I have been waiting to see but I gueess we'll have to wait longer. Good luck with exams. The blue yarn is nice can't wait to see what becomes of it. I love the story about the basket. I got a basket for a Christmas gift and it was made by a woman in Ghana. I keep the tag in the basket to look at when I take out my yarn. I never met the woman who made it but it's more personal and meaningful
