knitting a tent

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading?  ~ Ginny
I'm still working on the campfire shawl...
well, it's been laying in the corner for a while, but I picked it up today after waking up...it's going slowly, I'm using size 5mm needles so it's a tad bit larger than original pattern... actually it looks like I'm knitting a tent - on that photo...it was taken with my camera balancing on a can of Nesquik - which explains why it's a bit off focus and half of my face is cut off.

It's exams period, so I haven't been reading much, but I'm listening to HP audio books -I'm halfway through the 6th. I'm falling in love with audio books - it does feel a little bit like cheating, but it's great that I can do other stuff while listening.

I've been planning a shopping spree in a small yarn shop we've seen with my roommates while walking through the city, but didn't have time to visit it so far.
a tin box I'm using as a yarn-holder. I got it at the flea market in Lisbon for 1euro.

does anyone else get that ridiculously happy feeling, by simply standing in the middle of the yarn shop, looking at all the beautiful wool, dreaming about projects?
I get the same feeling in all bookstores, that's why I usually go there alone.  So far, only daddy proved to be patient enough, to suffer through hours of me browsing skeins of yarn and shelves of books without complaining.

  1. I wish there was a yarn shop near me. Whenever I travel I try to find at least one to visit. Being surrounded by shelves full of yarn = wonderful. And yes, it's very much the same feeling as being in a bookstore. I could easily spend hours in either. :)

  2. Great picture, and it does indeed look like you are knitting something very large.
I love going to yarn stores, and even plan visiting them into my holiday destinations!
    Good luck with your exams.

  4. I know that feeling of loving the silence while one sees things that = many dreams of projects or, in the world of books, places to visit via the printed page...

  6. Yes to loving yarn stores and bookstores! My husband is the only one I know who is willing to wander as slowly through bookstores as I am! Your shawl is beautiful.
I recently discovered audio books and have been loving listening to Jane Eyre on the Craftlit podcast. I can knit or clean or do laundry or feed my baby all while absorbing good literature! HP would be really fun to listen to!
